4th Annual Benefit Easter Egg Hunt Recipient: Del Clark

4th Annual Benefit Egg Hunt Saturday, March 27th 1:30 pm Archer Glen Elementary School
16155 SW Sunset Blvd

Organized by The McCabe Real Estate Group, the 4th Annual Benefit Easter Egg Hunt is set for Saturday March 27th, 1:30 pm at Archer Glen Elementary School in Sherwood, Oregon. The cost is only 2.00/ child and refreshments will be sold again this year as a "donation only".

(Photo Below: Del participating in the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life of SHERWOOD event)

The first 3 hunts were for local area kids who had cancer. This year's recipient is local resident Del Clark. Sherwood City Councilor, past Sherwood Chamber of Commerce President, local attorney, husband, and father, for 22 years, Del was a brain cancer survivor. Last fall, he was diagnosed with colon cancer, and told that his brain cancer had also returned. All proceeds raised will go directly to the Clark Family.

Donations are being accepted for the event. Easter candy and plastic eggs are being accepted at Sherwood's John L. Scott Real Estate office (located in the Safeway Shopping Center). Or contact Leslie McCabe, event organizer at 503.880.9866 or email her at leslie@toddmccabe.com

Last year's egg hunt raised over $2,000 for a local Sherwood boy who has an inoperable brain tumor.

Local volunteers, in 2005, Todd and Leslie helped start the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life event of Sherwood. In only 6 years, The Relay For Life of Sherwood has raised over $250,000 for the American Cancer Society to help with research, education and advocacy.

The McCabe's, also a successful local real estate broker team with John L. Scott, are teaching their children that you can make a difference in your community.

Even in this difficult economy, last year The McCabe Real Estate Group had over 45 sales giving them the opportunity to donate to more events and charities. They hope to do the same this year and to "give back" even more to other charities and events.

A Reflection of 2009...

(Todd & Leslie McCabe and Daisy too)

Challenging would probably be the best word to describe 2009. We witnessed so many sad stories this year: families struggling to make ends meet, a sick loved one, loss of job, a death, divorce, loan issue after issue after issue....the story goes on and on. For us, every situation, we too felt the sorrow, sadness, and pain for each client. This year more then ever, it really was about "our clients needs" and we tried to be as selfless as possible as we knew at times, even though we didn't earn what we should or really needed to, or we ended up advising a client to not sell, or to wait on a purchase, ethically and morally we know that we did the right thing for our customer. We do believe, what goes around, will come back around. Even as tough as this market was, we sold 45 homes! We are truly blessed and very thankful to all of you for your trust and confidence in our real estate team.

The McCabe Real Estate Group made many positive business changes. We hired two Buyers Real Estate Brokers expanding our team and adding to the exceptional customer service we are proud to provide to our clients. We embraced technology: we added a blog and hired a videographer to produce several videos for us. We added a business page to Facebook, got onto Twitter (which we still are not too gunge ho on but we are there) and increased our client's visibility on the Internet selling more homes then we anticipated in this tough market.

In 2009, even in these tough economic times, The McCabe Real Estate Group increased our giving to our community and causes that are/were important to our clients, friends, family and even business associates. Giving back to our community is a big part of our business philosophy. Not only do we take care of our customers by doing extra, but we also take care of our community. The more we sold, the more we would give back. We offer no gimmicks to get your business...just honest hard work that are clients will attest to which is why once again, the majority of our business was based on referrals.

We are grateful to everyone who supported events we organized or participated in as sponsors and or volunteers. Events we are passionate about. To our community for supporting our Annual Benefit Egg Hunt where every penny we raise is donated directly to a family in need. Our 2009 hunt raised over $2,000 for a local Sherwood boy who has an inoperable brain tumor. In only 3 years our Annual Benefit Egg Hunt has raised over $6,000, all going to local families in need, and all who had children with cancer. A sincere "thank you" to Archer Glen Elementary School, Sherwood School District, The City of Sherwood, and to all the volunteers who stepped up and helped us on a beautiful sunny Saturday. Planning has already begun for our 2010 Benefit Easter Egg Hunt. We are grateful to everyone who supported us at two Relay For Life events: Beaverton and Sherwood. We are very passionate about hoping that someday a cure for all forms of cancer will be found. The American Cancer Society's Relay For Life event is one that is very near and dear to our hearts and we again want to say "thank you" to everyone who supported us and came out to these two events where we were sponsors and also volunteers. Please help us keep this fight going...

For 2010, we hope that many first time home buyers will take advantage of the $8,000 first time home buyers tax credit. We hope to race literally to April 30th getting as many first time home buyers into escrow so that they can close by June 30th and to enjoy being a home buyer: big, small, yard, no yard, short sale, fixer upper.....everyone deserves to be a homeowner and we can't wait to help customers take advantage of this exciting opportunity! The Government also extended up to a $6,500 tax credit to existing homeowners who have lived in their personal residence for at least 5 consecutive years. We hope to see an increase in this area and are ready to assist our past clients and many new ones take advantage of this additional tax credit.

We are thankful to Jason and Rick for joining The McCabe Real Estate Team. Rick and Jason not only are wonderful, honest, and ethical realtors, they are very good friends and we are blessed to have them as part of our group. We look forward to a succesful 2010 and are excited for the new year to start!

From Todd, Leslie, Jason and Rick, we offer a sincere "thank you". Thank you so much for your business and for many a long term friendship. We are very excited about 2010!

For all your real estate needs in the Portland Tri-County areas, please don't hesitate to contact The McCabe Real Estate Group, 503.880.9865.
